Nine mujahedeen were martyred by Indian occupational forces in south Kashmir’s Shopian district in last 24 hours

Five mujahedeen’s were martyred on Sunday while four were martyred on Monday morning in an encounter with Indian occupied forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defense official said.

“Five militants have been eliminated in operation Reban in Shopian,” defense spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia said.

He said no collateral damage took place during the operation.

A police official said the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Reban area of Shopian, in South Kashmir, this morning after receiving specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said the search operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire at a search party of the forces, who retaliated.
Five local Kashmiri militants were killed in operation he further said.

The police, however, did not identify the slain militants but local sources identified four among five as Farooq Ahmad, resident of Kulgam, Saqlain Ahmad, resident of Reben Shopian, Safaat Amin Nayak a resident of Babapora Shopian and Ovais Malik resident of Arwani Bijbehara

Another operation was launched during wee hours of the morning in the same district in which four more Kashmiris freedom fighters were martyred.

The gunfight broke out early Monday morning after the police, army and the CRPF launched a search operation in the area.

It is the second gun battle in last 18 hours and at least 9 freedom fighters have been eliminated”, regional police chief claimed.

The identity of the slain is yet to be ascertained.

Indian authorities fearing the hero’s farewell to the slain freedom fighters buried all the slain in an undisclosed location. The Kashmiri people walk hundreds of kilometers to have a final glimpse of their fallen comrade.

Meanwhile internet and mobile network facilities have been shut in whole South Kashmir.
